Testimonials
Our story is not unique but is interesting and has a very happy
ending. Two professionals, in their early thirties, pursuing careers
meet, get married and try to start a family. Neither has any health
issues and after 3 years of trying unsuccessfully to conceive a
child they begin seeing fertility specialists.
After another year and still no success, the husband is promoted
and sent to Asia for three years. The wife leaves her job, moves
to Asia with her husband and decide to let nature takes its course.
The doctors believe that if the wife leaves her high pressure job
and hectic travel schedule things may work out.
The three years pass and there is still no children. The pressure
is on now because the two are getting older and the wife is 37 years
old. For the next two years the couple undergoes 6 more rounds of
fertility drugs (artificial insemination, in vitro, GIFT, etc...)
and start the adoption process with Gentle Care.
The couple is approved for adoption and begins waiting to be chosen
by a birthmother. It is about a year later and the phone rings!!!
It's their social worker from Gentle Care with news of a baby boy
who's birthmother had chosen them to adopt her baby.
The couple waited for the required 72 hours, held their son for
the first time and went home. The next few years were filled with
late night wake-ups, dirty diapers and pacifiers.
The couple was having such a great time that they decided that one
child was not enough. They contacted Gentle Care and this time they
were chosen by birthparents who were young and wanted to meet them
prior the birth of their child.
The couples met, talked and planned an uneventful open adoption.
The birthparents gave birth to a little girl and the couple was
contacted immediately. The couple went to the hospital right away
to meet the baby girl and to be sure the birthparents were doing
well.
All was well until the next day when the couple was called and told
that the birthparents had changed their minds and the adoption was
off. Everyone thought that was the end of the story.
Ten days later the phone rang and the couple was asked if they would
consider adopting the little girl. She had been placed in foster
care almost immediately after being released from the hospital.
Their answer was yes and the baby joined the family 72 hours later.
Each day the family counts their blessings. Some days are easier
than other but each day is a joy.
